Occasionally, MCGA takes a break from stroke play events and holds a fun round. Fun rounds are generally a 2-person team format. Official MCGA Handicaps are used and factored to determine a team handicap. Pools are held as in normal events but according to teams.
Teams are given a team handicap based on 35% of the "A" player's MCGA handicap and added to 15% of the "B" player's MCGA handicap. Team handicaps used for the event can be found here.
In the event that a player no-shows, a ghost player will be substituted.
Depending on the number of teams competing, the field may be broken into two or more flights.
Each player hits a tee shot from their appropriate tee box, and then the team selects the best shot. Both players play their next shot from that spot and the team selects the best shot again. This best ball pattern continues until the ball is holed. The score for the team is recorded for that hole.
Like the scramble format above, each player hits a tee shot from their appropriate tee box and then the team selects the best shot. Both players play their next shot from that spot. After the tee shot, however, each player plays his/her own ball through the hole as in stroke play. The team score is the player's score requiring the fewest strokes.
If a team event is designated as R-W-B, then both members of the team play from the same red-white-blue (R-W-B) sequence of tees. This tee sequence will be announced prior to the start of the round and will be followed by all of the teams regardless of handicaps.
