The MCGA conducts two championships that members in good standing can participate in. Both of these contests are held at the end of the season and run in conjunction with normal MCGA Saturday golf events. The first is called the Tour Championship and the second is called the Club Championship.
This is the final round of the MCGA season. It is a one-day 18-hole event for all qualifying members in good standing that have played in the required minimum number of rounds during the season. To the winner goes the title of Club Champion along with a beautiful trophy. The winner is the "tournament ace" who shoots the lowest net score among golfers in all of the flights.
As with all our "major" events held during the season, an 80% handicap adjustment on all golfers is used in the scoring to determine the low net scores. In the event of a tie for Club Champion, a one-hole sudden death playoff will be held, if the course will allow it. Otherwise, we will use the same scorecard tiebreaking system that is used during the season.
As the Club Championship is the culmination of a year-long season of golf, it is a celebration of sorts with over $5000 in cash, awards and prizes to be awarded. In addition to the awards below there will also be some attendance prizes for participants to be given away during the awards ceremony after the round.

The cost for qualifying members to participate in the Club Championship is $40.00. A full explanation of the pools for the Club Championship can be found on the Pools & Games page. Non-qualifying members and guests are welcome to play in the Club Championship event too, though the pools available to them for the event are less.
To find out if you have enough qualifying rounds for the Club Championship, click on the most recent financial results report. Once you download the report, go to the dues page, find your name and look across the whole row and find your total rounds for the year at the end of the row. You need 20 rounds for the whole season and 10 rounds if you became a member only six months or less.
In the event that two (or more) players tie with the same low net score, the winner is the golfer, first, with the lowest front nine total score. For the low net game it will be the lowest net total score and for the low gross game, the lowest gross score.
If there is still a tie, then the winner will be determined by a sudden death scorecard playoff on the front 9, hole-by-hole, beginning with the hardest hole (lowest handicap value) and ending with the easiest hole (highest handicap value).
Last, if there is still a tie, then the winner will be determined by a sudden death scorecard playoff on the back 9, hole-by-hole, beginning with the hardest hole (lowest handicap value) and ending with the easiest hole (highest handicap value).
